For over 30 years, JOA has orchestrated the complex construction schedules and budgets of Southern California’s most vital public infrastructure. From affordable housing to major international airports, they were nimble, competitive, and experts at solving the problems others couldn’t.
However, their brand identity had fallen behind their excellence. The leadership realized their digital presence was only 60% reflective of their true capabilities. Their website had become a turn-off for the high-level talent they needed to recruit, and their messaging was inconsistent across social media and press. To grow the business, JOA needed to move from being an industry secret to a bold leader that projects certainty to every business partner.

Creative Direction:
The new visual identity was designed to project the boldness required for JOA’s next level of growth. We introduced Innovation Blue—a vibrant, modern hue designed to stand out against the monotone photography of their competitors.
The logo’s “O” was transformed into a speech bubble icon, emphasizing the strong communication that happens within the team and with their clients. This motif was carried through to their “Three Big Ideas”—Cultivate, Collaborate, and Communicate—providing a visual and verbal framework for their proprietary process: The JOA Way.

- Color/Tone: A refined color palette that utilizes color in a modern, confident way. The energy of Innovative Blue signifies the growth and

It clearly communicates the value of precision and order while integrating the company’s spirit and commitment to community legacy. The primary tagline is the brand’s new rallying cry, designed to be authoritative, reliable, and reflective of the core promise of Building Certainty™.
